Notes

I could tell my ankle wasn't right but it didn't hurt running (oddly, my non-twisted ankle was feeling beat up too).

I wanted some barefoot and decided it was worth the longer run to get to the good stuff. 2 miles to the soccer fields, 2 miles barefoot, 2 miles back. Easy run, then afterward my legs felt toast.

Rebel.

It seems to me that after an ankle roll the body compensates to the healthy side, so the good ankle takes the pounding and the brunt of the weight walking around... For me, a couple weeks after a sprain I get some arch pain in my health ankle.

Also, if you keep bragging about this blissful barefoot nirvana it's going to start a feud!

Nutmeg

What are you going to do about it huh! Move somewhere there's not snow over half the year?

But really, we both know Grand Marais has much better summer running than Ankeny. I just lucked out that the quarantine is now (and hopefully not all the way through summer).

Speaking of summer, headwaters just got cancelled. So now I need to reevaluate what I'm training for for like the 4th time.

Rebel.

Actually, now that trails are open I'm no longer jealous of your barefoot venue. Emma has been training for a virtual 5k, maybe you need something like that?

Rebel.

There might be a virtual race happening in Grand Marais if you're interested.

Personally, a virtual 5k sounds terrible. I do not run well alone or even if I'm winning a local race. Plus, I think Iowa is leaving perfect running conditions as you enter them.

Maybe I'll still do the virtual marathon if I can up the mileage for a few weeks.

Rebel.

I agree, a solo 5k would be tough. I think we might do a half marathon or 25k on the trails at some point in the next couple months. Probably not at race pace, just a glorified long run.
