Notes

The warm-up was 2 miles around Huxley. It doesn't seem like anything progress is occurring at the track. I may just have to "jump" the fence sometime. I switched to flats, 2 strides, then go time.

5 x "mile" w/ 90sec recovery

The stretch of bike path that I was on wasn't quite a mile, more like 0.9miles. But I didn't want to do a U-turn or cross a street.

The first felt pretty good and seemed to be on pace (goal pace was 10mile race pace, though this may be too fast still). The second was in reverse and I knew it was a very slight headwind, but I was hurting trying to keep the same pace and was still 7sec slower. That was not reassuring until I cruised the 3rd rep feeling great. That got me suspicious. Turns out the westward journey was also slightly uphill, so that would explain the slower 2nd and 4th.

The 4th was still hard even being okay with the slower pace than the eastward trips. And I actually about called it with 4 reps but eventually decided to do a 5th (though that indecision delayed the recovery to a prolonged 2min shuffle). I felt great again on the 5th rep.

I concluded with 2 sprints feeling good (or at least my hamstrings weren't too tight). I think I could race a pretty good 10mile right now. Though I suspect a 10mile time trial might be frustrating.

Rebel.

Nice workout. 10 mile time trial sounds tough, but if you're feeling good it may go well?

Nutmeg

I'm starting to feel some confidence but still worried how much I'll miss from no race adrenaline.

The big question remaining is what sort of course do I create for myself? Not too hilly and few street crossings are a must. But would I feel like I cheated if I did a downhill point-to-point or with the wind totally at my back?
