I had some worries about my stomach this morning, but it never took a bad turn and the workout went fine. Partly because of my worry and partly because I was tired of creativity, I decided to do a straight tempo.

2.5 miles warm-up, felt good. I started the tempo on a downhill to help get up to speed. That worked too well however as I started too fast and under 5:30 pace (though, of course, I did quickly have dreams of doing 6 miles at that pace and a return to stud form). The slight uphill took care of the speed and I hit the 1st mile in 5:44.

The 2nd mile was just trying to find pace, but I missed my mile split (it was 5:48) and had to wait until the 3rd mile to get a split. That was 5:54 which I wasn't thrilled about (there goes my dreams). I pushed again on the 4th mile on a general downhill to get 5:45. That felt good and rolled a 5:40 5th mile. I held on well enough for a final 6th mile in 5:47.

A promising effort, I'm happy with it. First good workout in my DS-Trainers in a long time. Actually, I've hardly worn them lately and my feet did feel a bit beat up by the end.
