--- Wanted 9:40 (pace)/155 (AHR)/0 (dry-heaves) and went 9:34/163/0. Still it was nice for a flat run on grass, dirt and some mud. Legs were really sore in the beginning but got better each lap. Was breathing way too hard for what this run was. ---

Making this quick because cornhole awaits but the plan today was just either easy on Highlander Way or sneak over to the Helix High School fields if there wasn’t an event going on. Could see that they were open so I switched my plan to five easy laps around the Modified Helix Fields, running back way to make about 2.15 miles. Had three goals going in, first 9:40 pace (could accept 9:35-9:45), second keep my average heart rate below 155, and third no dry-heaves. Did a quick stretch and drank a little water and I walked over to the starting point on the fields.

First couple of steps I could tell my legs were trash. Just beat up and tired from yesterday. Good thing I wasn’t worried about pace. Just ran the five 0.40 laps, going 3:40, 3:51, 3:51, 3:52 and 3:53, then back to my normal home starting point (used to be 0.12 and is now 0.19 because of a new fence at the fields). My legs felt a little better each lap, so that was good. I was just breathing way too hard. Was trying to not look at my Garmin for pace or heart rate and did a pretty good job of that, trying to just go by feel. But I didn’t feel the best. The spot by the third base line for the modified baseball fields was muddy as usual but the rest was OK.

The goal was 9:40/155/0 and I went 9:34/163/0. But it was nice to get an easy run out of the way on flat terrain and no concrete/cement.
