Back-to-Back Long Run Day One. Total of 2:40:00 with 2:20:00 of race simulation. Last night's supper slow to digest, so unable to get much on my stomach early this morning. Weather conditions are brutal. Figure there is no way that race day could be any worse than today, so will use this as "worse case" training. Mentally toughen from years of Sunday CBEM workouts, and this does not seem so intimidating.

Jog about 20:00 minutes to shake off the cobwebs and let the sky lighten up. Going with regular hydration / fuel plan except that will be more attentive to amount of sports drink is going in my mouth each lap.

Started a little quick for conditions (and maybe in general), but was under control by about 30:00. Getting in a loop every 20:00 minutes almost to the second (per alert) and only looked at my watch twice. Joined by musher CJ and her pack dogs on loops 5 & 6. Went ahead and tried a handful of M&Ms before 6th loop. Sugar and caffeine shot lit my ass up. Last of clouds cleared out and sun was becoming a factor last hour. Temps warmed to mid 70s with the dew point rising right along with them. Ended up covering 16.25 miles (8:37 average pace). Right about where the other simulation runs have been hitting. No issues, in fact was pretty dang comfortable 80%-90% of the time. Took a leak shortly after finishing and was clear, so hydration was on the mark. Three pennies.
