Temp 68 Wind 5 mph. All that changed quickly.

Medium Long Run Workout. Late start waiting for little daylight. Uncertain of tree and building debris in streets, so did not want to run in dark or originally planned route. Straight-line wind from south came down the street yesterday afternoon taking out several trees. Quickly reversed course and started removing shingles from roofs. Luckily, nothing that cannot be replaced, re-grown, or is not insured.

Jogged to the track. Our pole vault standards are bent and landing pit mats are tangled in the fence. Took two laps of surges on the straights to prime. Started with an AT tempo beginning and finishing on the track with hilly streets in the middle. Total of 21:33 minutes at 7:37 average pace. Into track intervals after a 400 recovery jog. Workout is 2 x 200 (6:45 / 6:32), 2 x 400 (6:35 / 6:45), and 2 x 600 (6:45 / 6:47) with 200 recovery jogs. Started in calm winds as a fast-moving front approached (this was not in the hourly forecast when checked this morning before leaving house). By second 400, skies were dark and wind was coming in at 20+ mph. Started blowing me all over the track.

Had planned on jogging another 45-60 minutes, but looking ominous and potential for lighting strikes imminent. Head straight back to house. Starts to rain before getting home and is storming shortly after getting inside. Got a better look at the neighborhood. Whole trees, large branches, and flag pole down. Roof and guttering damage. Front end of large travel trailer move across driveway.
