Easy with CNS Work. Jog around for nearly 20:00 minutes to shake out. Stop at the park and hit 8 x hills sprints. First couple to remember how to do them, then last six for real. Shuffle a couple miles over to the track. Next 15:00 minutes spent on drills and strides. Turnover in low 6s this morning. Finish the morning with another 40:00 minutes of jogging. Dime and a penny.

First time at track after sunrise in few weeks. See that they are now installing lights at a facility that is never used at night. List of why I'll never vote "yes" again on a school bond issue grows by one more item. On a positive note, The Parker Foundation has donated a large Jax Invitational Record Board that is now mounted to side of building. Remember that Shemonia kid with the 4:24 1600. Below him is Waddle's 8:34 3200. He was a salty dude. The 3200 is the oldest record on the board (36 years). From the looks of the pipeline, and the lack of competent coaching to get them there, don't think either of these marks are coming down too soon.

IMO, the 1600m record will go down at some point by a "true" 1600m specialist. The 3200 m record will probably stand for another 25-35 yrs. The two best complete distance runners ever to come out of Southeast missouri...just one old guy's opinion.

Even the next "true" 1600m specialist will need (1) at least 1-3 rivals going through at the same time, (2) someone not names Sheridan / Stoverink / Talley to coach them up, and (3) a cool SEMO spring day without a 20-mph wind smacking them in the face every lap.

If you remember, Jr. Tried to get a local 1600 m runner to help him that day; no dice refusal, so he ran it entirely solo. Probably would have been 2-3 seconds faster with a little company.
