Fartlek-Style Tune-Up. Can call it some "Heat-Play". Running close to tomorrow's start time. Air is suffocating. Worked on ignoring it. Race time forecast calls for 83 degrees with a heat index of 91. Warm enough, but they were way off today's high temperture on the low side by almost 10 degrees. 80% humidity with 40% chance of storms. We ran in a downpour in 2009.

Doing the neighborhood loop somewhere between easy and tempo effort. Hit the hill on Greenleaf twice (once in each direction) and cranked up the leg turnover both times. Started first of four striders about 17:00 minutes in. Started at race pace and progressed to under 5:00 on the last one.

Twenty-four hours out, plan is to blast up the first hill like a fool, let gravity take me down, turn around and blast back up it again like a bigger fool. Back at the bottom, we'll be about 1.3 miles into race, so let the chips fall. Been hitting hill repeats at race pace like its child's play, then going out in races and wilting like a sick flower on the slightest of grades. Got to be mental. Got to get through it.
