Long Run. 70° at 5:00 a.m. OK. Solo this week and maybe more. Getting old continues to suck. Staying close to home today to avoid the circus at Arena; i.e. virtual half-moronathon. Don't want to photobomb any of the selfies or get caught "staring" at the "craziness" of Ms. Margo (Xmas Vacation reference) "wearing a racing bib". Know that I should not be mean, but it is hard not to be bitter when a real runner who respects the sport is on the IR and unable to answer the bell and the rest of us have to listen to half a dozen of the locals go ape-shit over an egotistical stunt-person.

Drive to City Park so that I will have fluids handy. Start with 2.57 miles at 7:54 average pace. Quick stop at the car for last gulps of water, then over to Russell Street.

6 x 12-second hill repeats. Walking the intervals and taking off from the starting line every 70 seconds.

Primed, so scoot over to Old Cape Road, take it to Jax Blvd, then out and back to center junction. 11.75 miles at 7:36 average pace. Last couple of miles on empty. Holding form OK, but when I hit the flat park road in the last mile, could tell my ground contact time had increased significantly. Must have fallen in a creek along the way...got back to car, was soaked head to toe, and smelled like some reptile got under my shirt and died. Four dimes, two nickels, and eight pennies. First full roll of dimes for 2014.

Last three to four weeks have felt like HM training...
