Notes
It's Tuesday now, but I really need to put a note together for last week's running, which was really good.
1st the workouts, I ran Tuesday hills and Wednesday I ran 3x7minutes (2k) +4x300,
Both workouts felt good, I got great length on them, and on Wednesday, I logged my run and said to myself, wow, I ran 4+ miles of intervals, and 10 miles w/o really thinking about it, and it felt easy.
Now for the race
My race prep was flawless, and I got to the line feeling better than I've ever felt in my life. I think part of it has to do with the Tuesday/Wednesday workouts, I never, ever, anticipated adjusting to them as well as I have, Coach has also designed the workouts well to play to my strengths and work together well.
Some other things that I really noticed in my race prep was:
-my premeet- was faster than I ran all last year, 5.5 miles in 7:09, because I had to squeeze my run shower, and stretch in 70 minutes. Maybe that loosened my legs up better than any strides or stretching (I didn't get much)
-I went to the pasta dinner, and stayed really loose, joked around with everyone and chilled, and didn't talk about what I wanted to do at the course the next day too much, (Dom threw around he wanted to run 27:30 and that was basically it).
-I didn't get too much sleep. With a 10:00 bus, I stayed up till 11:30 watching youtube and stuff, and got up at 8:50 for ~9 hours of sleep, rather than trying to get to bed early and lie in bed for 12-13 hours.
-I didn't nap on the bus, I stayed alert, was listening to some music on the bus, moved my legs a bit (as much as I could). Again still staying loose.
-Once I got to the meet, I didn't really worry about standing/walking around, I kept moving, walked up Bear Cage Hill to scout it out, when the women's race started, I cheered them on, moved around on the course (as part of my warm up).
-Before we warmed up, Coach asked us about goals, and it seemed like everyone was worried about not getting dragged out fast, so when he asked me I joked that I was gonna take the race out and lead it wire to wire.
-While I did start too quickly, I felt really good, loose and relaxed, everything I did before the race said all systems were go, and I had a quality first race of the season.
