Notes
Today I decided to follow Brett's plan and after the first 2 miles, attempt to run at goal marathon pace. I was unsure of my goal marathon pace for the next marathon so picked an aggressive goal of 6:48 which is the pace I ran in Boston. I ran HOA last year at 7:02 pace so anything in between might be realistic.
I ran almost the first 2 miles with the rest of the group, began picking up the pace and finished the run on my own. The miles seemed to go by quickly. I took my first Accel before Scott Blvd and then stopped at the water fountain. I was hoping I remembered the course. I didn't remember all the streets, but recognized all the turns. I could see a lone runner behind me and then 2 others at a few points. Destiny, Dan, and Matt weren't too far behind for the first few miles. I missed the water on Tayside. I took the other Accel at 12 miles and water on the rec trail before finishing the last 3 miles. I realize I didn't drink much water, but felt very good for the entire run. I kept slowing myself down since I was often going too fast.
m1 - 9:03.........m10 - 7:00
m2 - 7:36.........m11 - 6:42
m3 - 6:43.........m12 - 7:00
m4 - 6:46.........m13 - 6:53
m5 - 6:48.........m14 - 6:59
m6 - 6:55.........m15 - 6:48
m7 - 7:01.........m16 - 6:46
m8 - 6:47.........m17 - 6:47
m9 - 7:03.........m18 - 6:47
Last 16 mi - 1:49:45 6:52/mi - This would put me at a 2:59:54 marathon which probably isn't realistic for HOA. A more realistic goal might be 6:57 pace. I'm never sure what to do for this marathon so I guess it will be a surprise.
