All this on Forest service Road. Ran a mile (by pace on last race), marked the place with a ribbon, turned around and back to starting point. Then went the opposite direction, and ran a half mile, and marked that, and turned around and ran back to start again. Now I have a marked course of two or one mile, or multiples. Not accurate, probably, but within reason. I ran hard, like I would in a race, and worked up a good sweat. I had very short stops to tie ribbons on, and inbetween to drink water, and give Robby water.
