first race with loki. First overall..well technically he was first..probably 17:10 for me.. good stuff
Started off in front with 3 other guys with dogs and Perry with no dog. As soon as the race started loki and i hung back through the first mile and got into a nice groove. Once we hit the bike path we took the lead and never turned back. Loki decided it was a wonderful idea to run through the water on the side of the bike path, but that ok whatever kept him cool. when we hit the streets of Old Town at mile 2, he had a second wind and hauled my slow ass up the short hills, and put me into a second gear through that part. I was a bit concerned with the heavy traffic and no police escort down stillwater towards the YMCA, but it was ok for the most part. loki did great up till 2.5, when he decided to go right, me left, around a telephone pole. Probably lost 10 seconds recovering from that and getting back onto pace. He hit his head hard against my chest.
Overall good race. Legs felt like they hadn't raced Boston really at all, but on the other hand it really didn't feel like i was working all that hard during any section of the race. Very easy course. If we hadn't wrapped ourselves around the telephone pole, i think we could have broken 17. Well always next time!
