Notes

No clue really where my fitness was going into this. Set out with a plan to run 1:28ish half and go from there. The hills from 8 to 10.5 miles were tough, by myself pretty much with first place lady 200m ahead. I was a little worried the downhill mile 11 would trash my legs but I still felt really good through 13 miles and felt good surprisingly after the hills. I let a couple of people pass me on the downhill at mile 11 and ended up catching one of them. Went through the half in 1:27ish (no official split). Took energy gel at miles 8, 12, 17, 21 and alternated water Gatorade each station. That worked well. The downhill luge after the half was fun! Started to stiffen up around mile 22 but held on for a good finish. Sugarloaf is a great marathon. The road is rough in sections but if you stick to the middle of the road its all good. Rain the whole time..glad I wore a longsleeve and gloves!

Official time of 2:53:14, 21st overall.
