Notes
Even with the hills of within the first several miles, I felt great. I even believed I was going to start speeding up, but when I saw that I was going to beat the 14th street bridge, I just took it easy.
Mile 6 - kneecaps felt like they were about to pop off, and there was a pain I have never known.
Mile 21 - kept thinking "I only need to finish" but I was sad after the race that I didn't press myself even harder.
Mile 23 - I wanted to stop. That is, not just run slower or walk, but actually just stop.
Mile 24 - my hotel was right outside this marker, and I just wanted to go upstairs and go to sleep.
I would have been happy to walk the last 0.2 miles, but the crowds at the end were so intense, I felt ashamed to slow down... so I kept running out of pride.
At least I have Marathon PR (as pathetic as it is), and I have something to improve upon. And even more positive is the fact that I have a new 1/2 Marathon PR of 2:39, which is 4 minutes faster than last year's half, and this included those blasted hills that killed my knees.
