Same "long" ride today as on Sunday. This time I wanted to work as hard as possible for the whole ride, to see how quick I could get it done. I was shooting for a high average speed. This time I worked the hills just as hard as last time, but I also pushed to keep my speed high on the flats and 'false-flats'. I shot for a cadence of about 95 and tried to keep the cadence as high as possible on the hills. It seemed easier going up hills today than last time. I was also really happy to see that I was keeping a pretty high average speed for the first half, but then got killed by the hills in Mendon. On 64 my average went down a bit, but not too much, but 251 really lowered it. I pushed on 65 coming home, because I knew I could pick it back up. By the time I got to Stone road my average had picked up significantly, but I was upset that it was not above 20mph, so I pushed even harder. The section from Calkins to Stone is tough because of the traffic light at Stone, but today I got the green. So, the next section down to Jefferson I was sustaining about 37mph the whole way. I love that section of road. There were multiple sections that I was able to sustain a speed of 25-30mph for a significant (1-2 miles) length of road. I love the aero-bars. Excellent ride today.
