Hard run today. I wanted to work this one. I was having issues with my HR monitor at the start, and that kind of put me off starting out at a really fast pace. So I just went as quick as I could while trying to maintain a nice easy cadence. I fell into a good groove and by the end of the first mile I was feeling pretty good. It wasn't real fast to start, so I decided that what I would do is a negative split run, trying to drop 5-10 seconds per mile for each mile. This worked for the second mile, but the hill up over Winton and then up past the Water Authority leveled the pace at just over 8 min/mile. The fourth mile was a surprise, since the hill up next to Cobbs Hill Park always does me in. Today I was able to push over the hill and fly down the hill on Southern Parkway. In the next two miles I made a concerted effort to go faster in each one. The last mile I was running pretty damn all-out. I probably could have sprinted faster at some point, but I would not have been able to sustain it, so I think that this pace at the end was damn good. I felt good the whole way through also. It ended up being a really good run.

Sleep: crap (bed at 12:30am, awake at 6:30am)

Mood: grrrr

Physical: good (a little tight in the left groin and left heel/achilles tendon)
