Come September 24th...whether I place First, Last, or DNF...I can rightfully say that today I have earned the title Ultramarathoner. The first ten miles went by wonderfully and still felt great though the next ten miles up to 20, even after jumping over a downed tree blocking the road. It did make me feel a bit superior to the woman turning around in her big SUV. The last 10 miles were the hardest despite continually drinking water and plenty of solid food and gels. I think I've done a good job pushing back my wall to around 24 miles. My feet are obviously sore but in all I'm feeling pretty awesome about completing 30 miles in some of the crappiest conditions all summer.
