Notes

Monday evening run, should have been a morning run naturally. Decided to head to the Fells again and see if I could learn a loop that was nicer than the Skyline Trail... decided to try the Mountain Bike loop which is a similar length (kinda parallels the Skyline Trail) but isn't nearly as challenging. Tried out my new HOKA trail shoes that I ordered last month after my Skyline trail run... they were nice! Definitely bigger and heavier than I am used to, but the extra cushioning seemed important (particularly running downhill on rocks etc) and they definitely have a more hiking shoe - type tread/grip on the bottom which helps. The loop was interesting, it was still more challenging than I expected and there were a few times where I had to stop / backtrack / to try and stay on the correct trail. There was one section just past the "old railroad tressle" where I got really scrambled and couldn't find any of the blazes... I think I ended up just eventually finding where the trail picked back up, not sure I did it correctly. Overall, the run was a lot slower than I expected... although a lot of that was that I took a bad trip and fall between 7 & 8 miles in and slammed my knee on a rock. Ouch! Was pretty much limping through the rest of the run, hopefully I am g2g to run tomorrow... it was probably on one of the flattest, least technical stretches of the trail too, go figure. Also, it got pretty dark about 2/3 of the way through, so I had to go carefully to navigate out without any more painful falls... still tripped and fell again on the sidewalk on the way home down Governors Ave -_-

Fun run overall, listened to House of Run. I'll be back to the Fells soon enough!
