Bill Dunn Jr Memorial 5 Miler in Hough's Neck, Quincy. Very fun race, pretty pleased with the result - nothing special but right where I should be for now. Wanted to go out in 6:0x pace (MP) and progress down from there, but got sucked out a little faster from the start. I felt pretty good running 5:40s and figured that I could just keep it steady there and people would come back to me. Almost from the gun I was in 6th, there was a pack of 3 ahead of me, then two more guys further out front. I knew I was steadily closing in on the pack ahead of me. Shoe came untied around mile 2 which was annoying but nbd. Right around halfway I caught the pack, thought I would roll with them for a while but I passed them pretty easily so I decided to pick it up instead and dropped them all pretty easily. Mile 4 had a pretty long hill in it, at the top they were playing chariots of fire which was pretty funny. Felt pretty strong the final mile, couldn't see the Jrt lookalike in 2nd place though. There were a lot of sharp turns and quick ups and downs.
It was a fun morning! Still a long way to go fitness wise to get where I want to be for the marathon, but I have lots of time to get there.
