Notes

Good workout. 4x(3x300) @ 1500 pace, goal of 51 for me. Did Engineer warmup, Mach drills, then 8 strides on the turf and 2x200 w/ 200m jog before a longer rest. Going into the workout I didn't think it would be too bad, however felt somewhat generally tired/ sore and was worried about my knee. It didn't really bother me too much during the workout that I can remember, although it hurt a bit on the cooldown afterwards.

Ran in a group with Brandon and Jarrett, although in reality they were always ahead of me by 2 seconds or so. For the first set I actually let them go a bit, worrying a bit too much about splits, and I ended up running a bit too slow. At that point I was worried that the workout was going to be very difficult. After set 1 I ended up starting more aggressively, staying pretty close to them through the first straightaway, driving home, and trying to focus mostly on just running with a good strong stride, didn't check the watch at all, and the result was that every rep ended up being at 50-51, perfect. It was a little strange because during the workout I didn't "feel" like I was running well- Brandon and Jarrett were well ahead of me, and I'm pretty sure that Paul and Joe were running faster than me as well- but the point of the workout is to hit the times, not to see how fast I can run 12x300. With that in mind, I think the workout was a success, and a good confidence booster too- I know I can run efficiently at 34/200 (4:14/4:32 pace), I just need the confidence and discipline to string 5 of these 300s together. Excited for the season.
