Notes

2016 Saratoga Invite 8k, running opposite Paul Short this year so lower key. After last week's race, was hoping that I could run a 2nd best time for Saratoga, hopefully mid-low 27's. By hook or by crook, Saratoga was blazing fast this year, but still only managed to barely slip under 28. Not a big implosion or a terrible race by any means, but yikes, this felt pretty awful. Came through the mile in low 5:30s, pretty much where I wanted to be right behind Jarrett. Started hurting basically in mile 2, told myself I could get through it, but it didn't get any better from there. Felt like I was doing a good job of repeatedly getting on myself and consciously bringing up the intensity, but it just took too much effort even to maintain my slow pace and not lose too much ground on everyone around me. Quads felt totally dead. Tried to get going after I got up Ferndale for the finishing loop but didn't get much response.

Eh, this is pretty much what I remember 95% of cross country races being like, very optimistic going in and ending the day feeling like I have so much more work to do to get where I want to be. More fuel for the fire.

Fun weekend, excellent performance by the RPI guys, should be a great season!
