Indoor States 2015 @ RIT. Seeded 12th in the 3k. Goal was to score and Q for ECACs. Good race - hard to complain about a 3rd consecutive PR. Still a bit of a bummer though, the race was set up perfect for me to get both goals. Bibb took it out hard, so it was pretty strung out even 400 in. I spent most of the race running in a pack of 4 that ended up finishing 6th-9th in 8:49/8:49/8:51/8:53. We were basically on the perfect pace the entire time, I needed a 2:55 w/ 1k to go and around then is when I fell back off the group. Needed a 66 final 400, I think my last lap was ~33 which is a strong finish but means I really must not have changed gears at all on the second to last lap. I think that mentally I needed to make a move on the group when I started fading towards the end, just to stay engaged. Just a lack of confidence there I suppose.

Psyched for outdoor track! Have a pretty decent length of time before racing really resumes again, so should be able to get some serious training in including the volume that was missing leading up to indoors. The previous two years I have started the season w/ sizeable steeple PRs, I at least expect to start where I started last year and then PROGRESS like I did this indoor season. LLs/states should be wide open this year. Actually, unless someone comes out of nowhere for SLU, LLs should be pretty jokey. I guess I won't make any place goals for states, only that I want to be in sub 9:30 shape & have a good race on the day. Should be able to pick up some PRs at 1500 / 5k as they come to.
