Notes

10th Annual Firecracker 4 Road Race in Saratoga Springs, NY - 4 mile race on the 4th in downtown Saratoga. Decided to run it more or less at the last minute since I was in town for PHISH last night. It was a really cool race, a nice course with people out all along it cheering / playing music. Very pleased with this, I surprised myself even more than last week... considering my general lack of sleep and hydration + how crappy I felt running this week (Friday), wasn't expecting this to go well, but I ran much better than I thought I was capable of. Plan was to go out no faster than 5:30 and maintain from there, I executed it pretty much perfectly. Felt pretty stiff the first mile but warmed into it and was feeling great by the second mile. Passed people the entire time and was surprised how strong I felt, ran out of race more than anything. Last mile wasn't crazy but was strong, my watch was actually dying at that point so I think it was autopaused for ~6 seconds. I think I wimped out a little bit on the hill, probably could have kicked a little harder from further out but running mid-5:20s for the last mile with the uphill isn't bad. Likely could have gone faster at every stage of the race, who woulda thunk.

JD gives this a 61.4, so a bit better than last weekend. Seems about right, last week was a slower course, but also a little short, this was at least close to the right distance. One month to B2B, sub 34 will take running this pace for another 2 miles... still seems like a stretch, but feels at least possible. Slightly better performance than my 10k PR from the 4th 2 years ago, which is a good sign... if I on pace with my 2014 fitness level than I can be in SPAC PR shape in October.

Weighed in over 180 this morning, BOOOO
