2015 SPAC Invite 6k! Not super excited about this result, but it went about as I expected. Conditions were o.k., very humid and sweaty day. Did a pretty bad job preparing for the race this morning, ate a bunch of wheat thins after a bigger breakfast than my average race day, then just did some broken jogging and a stride or two as a warmup. Wasn't super psyched up, but I wanted to start conservatively and be passing people so I wasn't looking to rocket off the line. Felt prettty awful the entire race. For the most part I didn't feel like I was racing / mentally engaged, but I think that was mostly just because I was running slow and didn't feel good. I was pretty bummed how bad I felt from the start, but the first mile was super crowded and I couldn't really get around people too easily anyways, so I just settled a bit until we got to the one mile marker. Started moving up after the mile and was slowly passing people. Finally started to feel better when we were coming back towards the pool, told myself just to get up Ferndale and then pick it up. Was slogging up the hill but then finally got a little bit of mental focus for the final loop in the trail and passed a decent number of people... got SCHWARTZED though!

Don't know any splits really... I think I heard 11:4x @ 2 miles? I thought that was pretty slow but if that was accurate that would actually be a negative split. I think that 5:40 pace is probably pretty reasonable for a humid XC 6k considering I ran 5:34 pace Monday for 5k, no reason to think I would do much better. Need to improve my diet, pretty shitty this week... hopeful that with another three weeks of solid training I can be in shape to attempt a 10k PR on 10/4, then I might hop in the marathon the next weekend after all!
