Interval workout at Bowdoin Park. Ran before any of the races started. Z somewhat supervised. A really hot day. He eyeballed a 1000 meter loop, and had me do repeats of it with 1-2 minutes rest in between. Supposed to be at tempo pace- start at 3:49 and move down. Instead, I ran one at 3:47 and then settled in to running them around 3:55 pace. It was pretty tough running by myself, and disappointing that I seemed like I was going relatively slow. Nonetheless, this wasn't a terrible workout- definitely a weird one. Z had me focusing on my form, staying erect and driving with the elbows. I did 3 buildups on the end of the course afterwards, then a 30 minute cooldown with the team after they raced (we lost by 3 points to US#6 CBA!).

This is my week to prove myself. Good performances Tuesday at WH and Saturday at the Bay State Invite could move me back into the reckoning for top 7. I need to get there, and now is the time. I'm going to focus Tuesday on getting in contact with Mike and Jesse, but then settling in behind them. I then need to allow myself to focus on keeping pace. If anyone (read: Coner or Valeri) passes me, I need to GO with them and allow myself the chance to find the energy to run the race I know I can. I think that I can definitely beat Mikey D, and the way to do that is to run with him and Jesse.
