LL 3k 2015, hosted at RIT. GREAT race. Bobby and Brian were both in the race, as well as a group of four SLU guys doubling back from earlier events. Coach told me before the race just to hold onto the back of the and move up as guys fell off, and I'd say I executed. First half of the race was the perfect combination of relaxedness + focus, found a good spot and cruised along in the pack clicking off 35s/36s. Second half of the race moved up as people started falling back and stayed tight to the pack, with 1200-1000ish to go I was probably in 5th w/ no gaps between me and Bobby in 1st. It seemed like the pack really picked it up w/ about 1k to go, got passed by Scotty and Joe Smith but stayed in it for another 2-3 laps before they started to pull away, was running hard the final 400 but couldn't make up any ground. I wanna say I was at 5:55-5:56 at 2k, so last K was probably the slowest - more or less held it together though.

Bummed I finished just out of scoring, but still psyched with the performance - PR and 12 seconds faster than Dartmouth last week. Honestly felt much better today. Very excited for states now, I think if I race smart and to my potential there's no reason I can't score and break 8:50 (ECACs). Nothing special needs to happen - two more weeks of training, good diet + sleep, little bit of tapering, and a competitive race will get me there. A lot of confidence from today, I think that I can be prepared to either come through 2k in ~5:50 and hold on, or hit it in a similar time to today and then close hard.
