Liberty Leagues 2012, hosted by Clarkson. Course was pretty much all gravel/ hard packed dirt/ road, out and back with 4 loops around a cemetery. One easy hill you went up twice. Team got 2nd to SLU, better than last year.
Pretty pleased with my race. Got out super relaxed and then got into a good rhythm a little before the mile marker (5:22 but felt ok). Caught Paul & Jarret just before 2 miles and felt pretty good so kept going. Felt strong the first 3 and change miles (16:30 3 mile?), then started feeling it going up the hill the second time. Still hanging in but not passing people anymore. Last mile was tough, lots of turn's and uneven footing. Started going a little early and then realized that I still had more to go than I thought. A lot of people rolled me up in the last mile.
So all in all a good race, not that fast a time considering the course but I was happy with the way the race went. Might have gotten a little excited early on, probably could have benefited from a more evenly paced race, and wish I had some more steam on mile 5. Finished 71/131 vs 89/118 last year, so some definite improvement there. As usual, optimistic about next year already. But first... TRACK SEASON
