Ran the 1000. In a heat vs Middleboro and Hanover. From Pembroke was me, Paul, Eric, Mikey D, Greg, Jesse, and Blazo. My plan was to try and run with Sean Spillane from Middleboro, who I knew to be a 2:49 kid. Unfortunately, his plan was to try and hang onto Paul (which didn't work, of course). I ran 66 for the first quarter (2:45 pace) which Z said kind of buried me early on. The second quarter was in 76, for a time of 2:22 at the half (I had hoped to be at 2:20 here). I ran the last lap in 35 seconds for a time of 2:57.
Not really a bad race. Matched my PR. Got unlucky that I ran the race alone, no one close ahead of or behind me. The 66-76 for the first 2 quarters is troubling... I need to get better at running an even pace. Hopefully I'll get to run the 1000 at League Meet where there will be plenty of kids of my ability to run with.
