Back at the Firecracker 4! Once again, racing the morning after a night of dancing on the lawn at SPAC, so wasn't sure what to expect. Based on my 5 miler I thought I would be able to run faster than I did in 2016, so a little disappointed at that. I went out in 5:30 with Cish and Austin as planned, but never felt good - this was a grind the whole way. It was hot, but not *that* hot. I could see Brian & Colin up ahead but never made up any ground on them in the middle part of the race really, never felt the strength I was hoping for in the middle of the race. Ran decently strong the last mile and over the hill but then gave up a bit on the final stretch and accidentally stopped early! Stopped after the first mat instead of running all the way through the finish - embarrassing!
Ran 21:49 in '16, so 23 seconds slower today... at least I didn't get CISHd.
