Notes

USATFNE GP race. Went into this one pretty unprepared, generally not feeling too fit and haven't gotten a lot of sleep over the past week (still recovering from ATX). My plan going in was to get out very conservatively and then see if I could surprise myself in the second half. It seemed like a pretty cool morning, and I think I got a little too caught up in hoping I would do better than I thought... let myself get dragged out too fast and then suffered pretty much from mile 4 on, as soon as we hit the first hill. Mentally I just wasn't there, was in survival mode for most of the race, really can't say I was racing for the second half... not nearly as focused or engaged as I needed to be. In any case, my quads were super heavy and dead legged going up the hills, so while I think I should have been sub-60 today, I really was not ready to take on the course and have a "good" race. I wish I had prepared a little better for this (mentally & sleep etc), I don't have a problem racing when I'm not in peak fitness but I like to still be able to take it seriously and put forth my best on the day.

Not reading much into the result, certainly I am not in great shape right now but that can change... splits were actually pretty similar to two years ago when I did this race, except for very slow miles 8-9 this year. This is a good HARD course, need to come back and crush it someday...

Fun day on Trev's boat in Plymouth in the afternoon though!

Shoe came untied in mile 3, that is worth something right??
