Tuesday night GBTC workout! We're back at the track until indoors I guess. Workout was a ladder, basically: 2-3x(1600, 800, 400, 100) w/ 2:30, 1:15, 2:00, 2-3' rest. Paces were kinda funny - it was supposed to be 5:30/2:25/62/13 for the fastest guys, ~HM/5k/mile/all-out efforts. I figured I would lay off the top group and run paces appropriate for me... that sorta happened, except that the group was way fast (on the miles at least, not sure if they were hitting the 62...) so although I started with the group each time I was mostly running on my own. I was in close enough contact on the first 16-- at least, which helped a lot - was verrry pleasantly surprised at how easy a sub 5:30 came, and that set the tone for the rest of the workout. Very happy with the pacing / efforts - the 1600s were well within myself, the 800s were challenging but not inappropriately so, possibly got slightly carried away on the 4s (went nuts BLASTING that 66) and the 100s.. could probably have been a little faster, gotta work on that get down speed! Was off the back of the group by a fair margin on every rep, but then again, no one else finished the workout <grin> (I think some are doing the Lynn Woods relay race tomorrow) ... so I feel good about this. Gonna take the rest of the week easy (hopefully strong volume though) and then hopefully run well on Saturday. The course doesn't look super flat, but I am feeling good about shooting for 58:20 (5:50 pace) ... maybe faster if it comes to me!
