Due to a crazy plot twist, got a wide variety of donuts instead of just glazed, but that was fun, it wasn't bad. Track was also lightly covered in snow which was a nice touch. 3rd place was about what I expected, but I was still pretty disappointed with my performance. I wanted to beat my time from last year and I wasn't even close. The running splits were ok, pretty inconsistent but came out to only 3 seconds slower from last year. Legs were definitely hurting from the hill workout ~ 1:30 before. But my donut eating was PATHETIC! I was 3rd to last after the first donut, so I made up a lot of ground, but c'mon! Need to do some speed eating practice before the next event if I want to be competitive.
In any case, the race director did a great job of bringing in a loaded field this year (Tim Ryan ~10:4x, Paul 11:54). Both of those guys were able to eat faster than they ran, so I think that is a key benchmark to be able to do. Tim averaged :4x per donut, whatttt.
