4 miles with tempo portion. Lower GI is still painful I stopped to turn around once then decide to do a slow slog and see if it wouldn't come around. It got a little better so I did the tempo but maybe too fast as I had to take a walk break then did a mile cooldown slog. Not real sure whats going on, pa thought I had the beginnings of an ulcer in Feb but it seemed to improve on its own. Started on the prilosec and going to cut back on Diet Dew.
Ya Lynda spent 5 hrs on the mower. It had kinda got away from us. We have about an acre in front of the house that is Buffalo grass and a few other native species, and that would sure be my choice for a new lawn. Still have bluegrass by the house but we treat it pretty rough, hoping the buffalo grass crowds it out when it gets dry.
Plan is coming together on the farm, bought 2 loads of fertilizer for $240/ton that they wanted $440 at year end.
The whole world said I shoulda used red but it looked good to Charlene in John Deere Green!!
Support Ethanol, drink the best, burn the rest.
Run for fun? What the hell kind of recreation is that? quote from Back to the Fut III
30 min of cycling to nowhere whilst rooting on Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck in their attempts to save the world from an out-of-control meteor, and 30+ min of core/strength. Ran out of time and had to cut it short.
Had a gentleman in line behind me at the coffee shop say, "You're looking rather slim this morning." Ends up I know him (a local attorney), but he didn't know who I was at first. I could've kissed him! Guess these $60 blue jeans I bought for $30 were worth the money.

Joe, I usually never run with music, but my DW used to encourage me to try it. I tried her shuffle one day on a long run. Awesome! It was a whole new world. I've used it just a couple times since then, but have gone back to just listening to that voice inside my head. I do like to be aware of my surroundings and no music helps that happen. But running with music is awesome...I'm gonna have to borrow her ipod again.
Jim....I hope you get that GI issue taken care of. At least you got your tempo in. Nice job.
Leslie....Nice xtraining and nice compliment at the coffee shop. BTW that video is pretty funny. It came out of left field, but it's funny.
a pretty quick 6er for me this evening. Went with DW.
Hey to evryone else out there. And have some good runs/walks.

It was posted on the Off the Beaten Path thread.
Nice 6-er - and as you requested I'm gonna be on your case - now give me another 12, son! . . . . maybe that's too much . . .

Hope you're feeling better Jim.If you mean Mountain Dews, that might be your issue right there.
That's really great Ev,that you can share running with your DW. Wish mine was more athletic. BTW, DW has used similiar tactics as yours to get me to work!
My niece is getting married Saturday in Etna, CA. It's an outdoor wedding. According to weather.com, there's a 40% chance of precip. According to weather underground, it's partly cloudy. Both say t-storms Friday. Keeping fingers crossed that weather underground is right!
This wedding makes me feel old! I was only 16 when she was born.

Alot of farmers use the NOAA site, it seems most accurate.

Feeling much better, thinking I might have had a bug as I was kinda achey also but will still do the prilosec and watch the diet and soda intake.

I can honestly say, I've never heard that one before.
Ev, yep, you got a smart one there I have found that if I start things, hubby joins in. If I mow, he decides to edge/eat weeds, etc.
Short "lightening tempo run" betwixt the thunderstorms this morning. A bit of a pickup in there to get home before the lightening got me. It's always fun to see all the tree limbs down, and the creek on the rise. Skipped the part of the trail that really can flood, but still turned back at one point so I didn't have to wade and ruin the shoosies. My 90 yo father in law lost his power last night, so spent the night here. We were glad to have him, but after a night of thunder and scared dogs, his insistence that we take him home before 6 am this morning was wearing a little thin. Tried to talk him into staying for breakfast, but nothing doing. Independent he is, and I suppose that is a good thing!
Sounds like everyone is doing well. Where's Jewels...Kelly...??
Ev - If you want, I can come up with other ways to torture you. Just let me know.
6 hilly miles this a.m. in an hour. Strangely warm for us around here. It was only 6, but I felt the need to guzzle water the whole time and didn't have any with me.
Also, got a call from my favorite boss last night about 8:45. He was in a car accident about 1.5 hours from here, on his way back from Carmel visiting his dad. Eventually nodded off, drifted into the ditch, tried to get back on the road, over corrected, and rolled the car, a Honda Element. Landed upside down. Luckily it was during daylight hours, and there were cars behind him. The people stopped to help him, and one was a nurse (his wife is a nurse) named Pam (his wife's name is Pam) who works in the cardiac unit in New York (his wife works in the cardiac unit here). Nothing broken, but pretty shaken up and bruised. If he had been in his Porsche, he would have been killed since it's a convertible. God was definitely watching out for him.

Another check in - lots of good runs going on, I see some good numbers!
Leslie - back to back long runs, niiiiice! Sounds like everything is going well.
Jim - I can't believe the only food you plant for yourself is a bit of corn, and you hope that it comes out ok! Funny!
Back in LA with mom - doc visits, packing, paperwork - we're getting through it.
I had forgotten how surreal the local news is here. Right now they're covering in lengthy depth a story on a porn actress who just tested HIV+(duh)...I guess the porn industry is bigger than I thought! Anyway lots of news on the entertainment industry. Maybe that's all that's left!
Not getting as much running as I'd like, but something is better than nothing. I did get my first nice tomato before I left Fresno

climbed a different hill in order to get out of the hole I was in so I could finish my mileage. It was fairly long, and once I got to the top, my HR was at 180! . . . maybe I should've taken it a little easier.
You didn't drop dead so don't worry about it! 'Taken it a little easier'.....give me a break!
Hi Guys!! Remember me? I'm still around! Looks like you all are doing well....when was 50's added to our name? Who got older? Not me! Getting my hair done on Tuesday so I'll look 29 again!
Still running a lot-I have to look and see if I've caught up to Joe yet. Ran my first ultra of the year Memorial Day weekend. I went to Maine all by myself and ran the Pineland Farms Trail Challenge 50 miler. The friend I was going to go with got sick and couldn't make it. Jack was busy with the VT City Marathon. It was a good race-nothing to technical, dirt road, grassy path or a mowed path through the cow fields, no single track anywhere. I finished in 8:40 which is a PR for me. I placed 23 out 76 overall, 5th female and won the 35-44 age group.
Work is going well. I missed the boat signing up for a class this summer-I'll try to double up in the Fall. The boys are busy like usual-today is the last day of school. Jack is speedy as ever. Next weekend I'll be in Washington State at a Brooks running camp. I'll get to run with Scott Jurek!! Can't wait!
I'll try to check in more often-I miss you guys!
Happy Trails! Kelly
MTA: I'm catching up Joe! 140 miles behind you...shooting for a 90 mile week this week!
140 miles behind you...shooting for a 90 mile week this week!
Uh oh, *nervously looks over shoulder* You keep doing those 50m races and you'll pass me soon enough Kelly!
Hi Arla, good to see you're making out well with your Mom.
Leslie- Glad your Boss survived that ok. Sounds like one lucky guy! Have fun at your wedding and make sure that you post your singing on Youtube for us to all enjoy.
Carol- that lightning will surely put a little more zip to your step!
Another week of rain for us here but it sure beats the H+H. Procrastination has resulted in my lawn being a jungle again. Something to look forward to this weekend.
Happy Friday Everyone!
