    Mornin' everyone.

I'm glad you're having a good time in Maine, Deeze, and have a nice long stretch to relax there - you've earned it. But don't forget to AYG (Activate Your Glutes)!

Congrats on getting back to (with permission) running, Holly. I'm surprised that the PT wants you to start with intervals, but what do I know?

Sorry you're not feeling tip-top, Tselbes. Congrats on making it through your run yesterday, and I hope today is a better day.

Good humid run, Dave. It's nice that you could work from home with some entertaining distractions.

I'm glad you're continuing to improve after last week's shot, Henrun. I hope you'll be in shape for Sunday's 5K. Nice run for Marj - I'm glad you're continuing to dig the dig.

The bears are back! thanks, Evanflein. Nice "OK" run for you - welcome back to being out there.

TW, I'm sorry about the power outage and the flooded back yard (rice patty not withstanding). I hope thing settle down and get back to whatever normal is.

    Nice easy run,Hallar.

That's quite the hens and chickens adventure for you, Tag, and the rest of the crew, Steve! I'm glad you got most of the critters back, and that Tag got his ice cream.

6.3 good and bad RW miles under solid grey skies at 4 this morning. It was good because along the way, I managed to work out the knot that has been harassing my lower back for the past few days. It was bad because my ankle was complaining the whole way - of course, I didn't back off to give it some slack. So I've got my ankle brace on for the rest of today, and I hope that the issue will resolve itself as quickly as it usually does.

    Have a greta Thursday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

Looks like an extremely uneventful day at the Tour de France.  100 miles or so of almost nothing followed by a 10 second sprint.  That's ok because later today is the Germany vs. France semi final match in Euro 2016.

I ran 4.15 miles in a light rain this morning. Pretty uneventful also.

good morning jay and dave and all to follow,

except MikeE who seems to be an after-work runner so  "good evening" to him

Yep, jay, patience is the key to most anything at this stage.

speaking of stage, some pretty close TdF stage finishes so far.

I'm just reading about them but will take a look later.

        ..

pretty uneventful on the PNW side of the continent too.

Feeling a couple of the predicted sprinkles,
I immediately invoked the twocat rule
and rode in on The Red Baron.

          Good morning, All ~~

It's been awhile since I've "seen" you, but I am unbelievably SLAMMED at work, I'm barely able to keep my head above water right now, let alone futz around on the computer.  When I go home at night, I can't stand the thought of getting on it.  We just got another 19 new clients, which translates into almost 38 new files, including those who are forming corps or LLC's.  On the 4th, I would 8.5 hrs and barely made a dent in what I need to do.  But I guess this is what I got that raise for, huh?

Okay - That's it.  I just wanted to pop in and let you all know I'm alive and I think about you all time.

          Later ~~

SteveP that is some chicken story you had yesterday!

deez4boyz I sure hope your nerve issues heal up fast.

I ran just shy of 7 miles with my old training partner yesterday. She was in charge of the route and took me to a spot in the next town that I never even knew existed. It is a peninsula at the end of a trail. Quite pretty. Today I figured I better give my legs a rest and just did some gym work.

Ditto to these two comments for me too, Leslie!

No time to go back yet to read all the dailies I missed on vacation... I tried to keep up for a while but got sidelined dealing with MrStarr and his anxiety. For several weeks before vacation he started having a lot of anxiety and had difficulty focusing on tasks like packing, etc.  I guess the stress of this year have taken a toll on him.  I really thought he would be able to relax once we got to the resort but he became more worried and anxious as the week went on. Even though he was on medicine it became obvious that he just wasn't himself anymore.

We somehow managed to get home with the boat and all on Saturday afternoon but by Sunday morning he was almost helpless to do anything for himself or make decisions so I took him to the emergency room at Sanford Hospital.  The doctor changed some medication and it seemed to make a difference that day.  He was obsessing about all we had to do so I went with him to get the 7 lawns mowed on Monday.  Now he is unable to work and is worrying about that. We did see a crisis counselor on Tuesday and are going back to a Christian counselor today. I wish I could fix this, it absolutely breaks my heart to see him like this.

I did get out to run several times on vacation so that is good. Plus, I am sure that I am the only 60 year old woman to ever slalom ski on the Sixth Crow Wing Lake up at Nevis, MN! I got up the first try, didn't fall and I think I impressed the people in the boat. I have had my ski for 46 years and bought it with S & H green stamps!

I've gone out almost every morning to run the lake this week -- it is my time alone. Today was my best time this year so that was a bonus and the rain held off until I got home, so all Rules of Running rules were obeyed. Getting up at J-O'clock is easy to do since sleep eludes me right now.

steve, as someone who's raised chickens, I relate to your daughter's situation.  I'm glad that, with the help of Tag and several family members, most of the chickens are now safely home.  fatozzig, it's good to hear from you.  Starr, my thoughts are with your husband and you.  I hope you can get things resolved for him.  Your comment about buying your slalom ski with Green Stamps took me back.  I suspect some of our younger members don't know what you're talking about.

This morning, it was in the mid to high 60s and calm.  I got in 5 very slow miles.  After yesterday, I was very apprehensive, wondering if I could do my normal run.  It helped my morale to get it done.

A good day and good runs for all.

In one swoop yesterday, we went from about 40 clients (each of whom has 2 files for what we're doing) to an additional 23, which translates into almost 46 new files.  Plus the attorney who is working this stuff is seeing 2+ new clients almost every day.

The attorney "overseeing" all this asked me today how many clients we have now and I estimated 60+.  His eyes almost bugged out.  He has no idea, even though he keeps pushing us to "start hitting things out of the park!  start getting applications submitted!  how many can we submit today??  can we submit 5 by tomorrow??"  He honestly has absolutely NO idea how much time all of this is taking.  And on top of it all, I'm still working for my estate planning boss.  Eye kar-um-buh!!

Okay - Enough of the pity party.  At least I got in here today - twice!  And at least I got to take a lunch break today!  Now THAT'S progress!

PS - Anybody have a sit/stand desk they use?  I'm looking at feasible options for our office.

Leslie, the standing desk thing I use is by "juststand.org" and mine is actually one of the desk mount options. It's ok, but I wish the keyboard tray could be moved out of the way. It's not very flexible but it is a couple years old, they probably have some much nicer options now.

Starr, so sorry to hear about your DH. I hope some new medication and counseling can help him cope. Struggling with anxiety like that is hard because others look at you and think, "what's the problem, just calm down and relax" but it's not that easy. I don't have the problem myself but it's in my family and yes, it can be heartbreaking. Best wishes and hugs to you and Lon. And good for you on getting your runs in! That personal time is very important, especially when you're taking on a caregiver role.

Leslie, while what Twocat said is true to a point (better to be too busy than not enough to do), there is a breaking point. I hope your boss can understand the work load it's putting on his staff.

Holly, I'm also curious about the starting with intervals thing. Did he mean speed work intervals (??) or walk/run/walk intervals. I'd be sure and ask, I bet he's not thinking speedwork. Good for you for getting the (confusing) green light.

Tselbs, if that "not right" feeling persists it might be worth getting checked out. Really.

Glad to hear the shot seems to have helped, Henrun. Not many people get much benefit from it so if it works for you, yay!

Second day in a row where the forecast originally wasn't great but it turned out to be a really nice day. I'm still dealing with this stoopid sore heel/ankle so decided to try trails today. 5.7 miles on dirt or springy trails, nowhere near as wet as I thought it might be. Good to be out on the trails again, first time this year! Which is scary considering I have a tough 16 mile race with the first half on trails in just over two weeks! Temps were nice at about 72° and sunny, and it wasn't even very buggy out there.

                        Hello everybody!

Before I go any further I have a confession--I, Mike E, knowingly and willingly, broke Running Rule #1 by beginning my run as it began to rain and continued to run 6.2 miles as it continued to rain.  I'm sorry.  I have an addiction that I cannot control--I must run....Rule #1 or no Rule #1.

Whew--I'm so glad I got that off my chest.

Leslie--I know how you feel about being swamped at work.  We were awarded 5 jobs that are all due within weeks of each other.  There is no way I will get them done--no way.  I wish I liked the work I do.  I wish I was good at the work I do.  Unfortunately, neither apply...I suppose one has a lot to do with the other.

                        Okay--gotta go.  See ya!

                          Warm Rain Exception.

After switching to all the bike gear I have and need when it started sprinkling as I started out on this morning’s five miler ‘mute, I continued to make sure to honor Running Rule no. 1 on the way back this evening, , . . . until it started sprinkling again at mile 2 and raining hard by mile three with gusty winds making sure I got good-and-soaking wet by mile fopos  However, with the temps still in the high sixties and the puddles feeling nice and good, maybe there should be a warm rain exception.

ps zigs - maybe post in plain view on your desk a list of all your cases with tickle dates, etc. in a big Times/Roman 14 font ostensibly for you to be keeping track of how everything is going but really for the purpose of showing the attorneys how much work you're handling, . .  if they ever come around your desk. It's a sad commentary that no single attorney seems to know how much you're doing.  Both probably think you just doing their cases with nothing else to do.  They need an office manager.  good luck.

                            Hi everyone,

3.6 miles in  92 degrees and sunny conditions.  Getting some rain tonight so maybe a little break in the beautiful hot weather we have had.

I try not to complain about the heat but it does make it hard to get any real quality runs in. Friday's my day off and then looking forward to some runs on trails this weekend. My right shin is barking a little so hopefully getting off the sidewalks can help.

Sounds like a lot of people here have busy work lives and struggle with their time. I too have these issues and often think that maybe it's not the job but maybe as we get older we just don't have the ambition that drove us at work when we were younger. They are always trying to get me to take on a higher position at work but we can never come to a mutual agreement on how much that would be worth to me. Let's just say it takes a lot more $$$$ to get us experienced workers to give up all our free time especially with fewer mouths to feed and the kids through college. Time to focus on our life which around here includes a daily dose of running..😃

I had my annual physical. The Dr. and I discussed why I cancelled a few tests. I told her that each specialist I've been to says I probably have an autoimmune thingy. However, they would like to test for X or mabey y or possibly z. I started cancelling tests when, after insurance,my portion was pretty pricey. I told the Dr it's like chartering a fishing boat with an assurance that I probably won't catch a fish.

During the the exam, she did state, "Oh...my...God"...She asked if there were any new issues she should be aware of. I told her that, several months ago, a weird looking mole appeared on my leg. But this morning, the dog licked it off.
