Deb, oh all right. I will do my own leg work. I did get spare ribs PT program. Too bad I am a visual person and have to see them done to know what they are. Are you eating enough to support your running? Thats my guess. Sleeping ok? Taking music along to get your mind off your body?
MIke, hit those trails. Hiking season doesnt last forever.
Never made it to the ice cream store. Will have to double dip literally tomorrow to make up for it. Its a good thing I run. If I didnt I'd weigh 300 lbs.
Laurie
Shamrock marathon March 2016. Burlington full or relay if I can find a partner May 2016. Wine and Dine half Nov. And a tri or two thrown in just for the hell of it.
Laurie - Ice cream, in moderation
Debbie - okay fine, I'll report. I did another 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday morning, but oy! its hard. I did 2 sets of 5/2, and 3 sets of 3/2. I think i'm having trouble because its colder & my house is COLD! I remember now that I had the same problem last year before the foot incident. So, have decided no K this month. I'll be a good girl and wait til I'm ready Also decided to start a running program, yet again! Was hoping I could short cut it, but that treadmill is yelling at me...
Hi T- bone! Hi Mike! Hi Kevin! Eliz! Frances and Roberta, did I miss anyone?
LInda, Ice cream in moderation??? I know not of what you speak. Must be foreign.
I posted the return to run program on the kickrunners rehab thread. It works. I can vouch for it.
Not sure what I am going to do today...besides eat ice cream.
Me
Good morning!
I'm going to bump us up to the top of the forum list and say that I put in 5 miles this morning.
Laurie -
Cheers,
Mike
3 miles yesterday. Leg feels good today. Slight pain in the hamstring yesterday during the run. No shin splints.
Mike sent me a pic of him in a speedo and asked me to post it here for him.
Work has been insanely busy lately.
MIke, thanks for the bump. 5, huh? So much for stability. ;-). Still waiting for pictures. of anything!
Linda, thank you. . Trouble breathing? I hate it when it's cold. I remember you had to really take time to warm up when it was colder out. But the air is still cold. I wonder what you could do about that. They do have a mask for that kind of thing. Is a little weird looking, but I wonder if it would be worth considering.
Very good girl ;-> for waiting to do a 5K. and for starting a running program again. I do understand how hard that is. Honestly, if anyone deserves to succeed and have fun at this, you do.
Laurie, sorry work has been so tough. Nice run, though. I didn't mean not to be helpful! I don't know what else I could do besides doing the exercises myself. Is that what you meant by leg work? There wasn't any point my re-writing what was on the link here. I didn't get the idea that the logic behind it was what you were looking for.. if so, it has to do with training the antagonists not to interfere with the agonists. here's another link about that. http://www.wemove.org/spa/spa_nmc.html. I think Matt Fitzgerald's site has pictures of his stretches & exercises. Still think it would be good to start with Ribs', though.
thanks for your suggestions. I think I'm eating enough, but have had a hard time getting back to eating how i think I should. Sleep is definitely on short supply. trying to fix, not easy.
12 miles today, & it went ok. not easy, but it could have been much worse! 9:57 pace, didn't include time for water stops. then lots of yard work.
Hi everyone else.
Teresa, if you're looking in, I hope you're ok! Has your DS chosen a school?
Oh yeah, here's another on of these for Laurie -
been taking lots of pictures with the new camera. Boy is it nice.
ANYway, tomorrow I begin again, maybe on week 4 of C25K, probably on week 3. From watching my m-i-l's declining strength, I've relearned the importance of keeping moving, no matter how little...as well as not considering my drs instructions as optional (what my m-i-l always thought).
Deb, it was silliness and sarcasm. Never take me too seriously. Yeah if you could do the exercises for me that would be great. But thanks for the info. I found out yesterday how important sleep. See story below. GET SLEEP!
L's. So sorry life has gotten difficult. But when life gets difficult find time to run. Even if its just 20 mins. The running will clear your mind and help you get through it. I'll bet your family is happy youre retired and have time to help out!!!
Mike, just try the link above. They dont make this easy. First upload your pic to photobucket.com. Then use the icon above of the mountain. IT will open a box then insert the address of your photobucket pic. and hit OK. It should post it here. These boards arent the easiest to post pics on. My womens message boards makes it easier be including a link at the bottom to load a pic up directly from your computer to the message board.
Linda, I was serious about the hiking pics. Very nice!
I was wiped out yesterday after work. Fell asleep on the couch at 8pm. Didnt have energy to do yoga or even eat. I went out Sat night and stayed up way too late. Then work 9am Sunday morning. Our weekends have been insanely busy. To show how busy we were we did 410 Operations. On a typical airshow day we do 500-700 ops. So yesterday on a normal traffic day we were just a little under an airshow!!!
I got hit with traffic. I was sleepy and had a hard time keeping up. My boss was there fortunately. He was helping out as much as possible. I had to tell the approach control to hold my inbounds and had to make the practice landing guys land just to keep my head above water. That was the first time ever I had to do that in the 7 years I have been here! Never again will I go to work with lack of sleep.
Will try to get a run in today before Ali and I leave for BOS to see Rob Thomas.
Morning -
Debbie - thanks.. I will succeed! sooner or later.
Roberta - ah you have a lot on your plate. hang in there
Laurie - well uh you could plan a meeting place in the PNW.. lol it is gorgeous here. Those pics are actually about 4 hours north of where I live. But it is the place to be if your an outdoorsy person
Roberta, thanks for letting us know what's going on. Best wishes for your MIL & DD! different circumstances, I know. But both take a lot out of you. (((( ))))
Laurie, ... well, I wasn't sure! Your work experience is definitely a solid plug for sleep. I'm all in favor of it. Just can't, sometimes.
Linda, I think I said that wrong. You already are succeeding. I hope you know what I meant!
jevin. Hey.
Teresa, I know it's tough, but I think if you keep going (& maybe catching up even more on rest... you've been going in a thousand directions for a while now)... it should be fine. that mojo is pretty slippery sometimes.
Mike, when is your first show?
Debbie - oh its me, not feeling like I'm succeeding right now. I will though, I will. btw - dad's in the hospital, had a hole in his esophagus fixed today... still questions about why that happened, docs mentioned something about possible cirrhosis of the liver, but not diagnosing that yet anyway..
((((( ))))) I'm sorry! I have a pretty good idea how hard that is. I think you should look at yourself like you were someone else ( ) Then you'll see how wonderful you are. . At least, I hope so.
Oh your poor dad. That sounds so painful. Let us know when they find out what's going on.
One day at a time
Thanks, dg! I appreciate the encouragement. Good job on the 12 miles, wow!
Today I ran 1 mile, walked 1 minute for a total of 4 miles. Still not easy, but at least I did it. Maybe now that we've gotten 4 of DS's college applications in, things will be a little calmer! Down to Connecticut this weekend for the New England XC meet, though. Always something going on!
Theresa, I must have missed something. You ran one mile and it was hard? What happened? Last I knew you were running strong. If my weekend werent totally planned out then I would offer to bop down to CT to do lunch of something with you. Darn.
Linda, prayers and strength. Keep running. You need it now.
L's, that goes for you too.
Kevin, Kevin, Kevin, wherefore art thou?
Deb, hows the recovery going?
Mike, nice pics as always!!! Thats it. You are officially newbie runner club head photographer.
I did a 50 mile bike ride at night on Tues. It worked out the sore leg muscles. I took Ali to see Rob Thomas and carolina liar in boston on Monday. 2 hour drive. 5 hour concert (yes 5 hours) and 2 hour drive back. The sitting killed my leg.
All is well now. I am out of pain. Going to test it out on a run now.
