    For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here's the the tally from last week. Let me know if I missed anyone or made any errors.

      Short week at work for me (yeah!) with Thursday and Friday off for the holiday. Hope to get a lot of work done around the house. Gotta dig up my marathon training plan...

        Thanks Holly for keeping us going each week. Hope you will be able to get in some running this week, but don't do too much. Usual 40 miles for me this week along with a 5k on Friday.               Thanks Holly....and so glad it appears your running will be fine Smile Mon - 10.5 easy miles - 1:32 - 8:46 pace Tues - 4 recovery miles Weds - Mid week long - 12.7 miles 1:43 - 8:09 overall ave pace - with my 6 1000's too fast, but great workout Thurs - 4 recovery miles Friday - 7 easy miles Sat - 17 miles - 2:22 - 8:20 ave pace - with 3 @ M pace and 3 @1/2 M pace...done Sun - 7 easy miles Total - 62.2 miles - A little tired, but good week

              Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

                Sounds like you are on the mend Holly...I sure hope so. I would so miss my Ohio buddy if you are out with an injury. Take it easy and don't rush it.                 Running out of mistakes!

                  Thank you Holly! I'm not sure if I'll try to race on Friday or Sat. We'll see what the week allows... M - recovery T - 8 mi intervals (11mi at marathon pace) W - 5 mi ez 4mi ez T - 12 mi hills (or ez if I race friday) 3mi with a couple of hills F- 4mi ez (or a race?) 5K race pr! S - 8 mi at pace 10mi near marathon pace S - 15 mi ez 15mi long hot miles Total? 48 miles
                  -2009 running goals - sub-3 after Boston (probably VCM), 3 PRs, 2009 miles for the year, and no untreated injuries

                    Thanks, Holly. Let's hope your injury recovery goes well. Take it easy. Only plan is to try to do nice easy runs in the AM before it gets too hot. Nature park trails are coolest. Mon - 1.5 miles easy, roads/asphalt trails; 13 miles easy, nature park trails Tue - 1 mile easier, roads/trails; 7 miles easy(!?), State Park trails (hills) Wed - 2.5 miles easier, roads/trails Thur - 13 miles easy, nature park trails (warmer in PM, 3.5 qts sweat loss) ------- evening: 1.5 miles easier, roads/trails Fri - off Sat - .5 mile easier, roads; 10 miles easy, nature park trails Sun - off Total - 50 miles
                      Back from a week off, sorta M--5.25 miles, intervals, 8x400 sub-90, WU/WD T-- W--6.56, tempo-ish. TH-- F--11.27, 1:42:43, sluggish, humid run. Changed my screen-name from sirwalksalot. S--7.72, AM run. Cooler out. S--8.76, 1:16:42, 144/164 39.5, pretty close. Thanks, Holly. I hope that you are back in form soon!
                        Thanks Holly: Monday - Rest - Yoga Class Tuesday - 8.03 miles relatively easy - 1:05:50 - (8:12) - did some nice strides in the last mile for a very comfortable 7:36 final mile...felt great except for the heat and humidity, 81 degrees and 88 % humidity Wednesday - 6.16 miles with stirdes - 53:10 - (8:37) Thursday - 4.01 miles with strides and a comfortably hard finish - 34:37 - (8:37) Friday - 1.18 mile warm up - 10:10 - LL Bean 10K - 42:36 - no 10K PR but a course PR, my legs felt dead today Sad . 1.34 mile cool down - 12:44. Saturday - 8.04 miles - 1:07:30 - (8:23) Hot & Humid - and of course wouldn't you know my legs feel much better today. Sunday - 14 Miles - 2:01:27 - (8:41) hot & Humid (thank goodness we did this one early on and ran some trails and then along Old Orchard Beach! Total 48.78 miles

I've been feeling very comfortable at +50 mpw with most runs either long or easy.... this is new territory for me but I think it could be what I've been lacking in my previous marathon training. Sun. 8.5 easy done Mon. 16.5 long done Tues rest Wed. 8.5 easy ....7.75 done Thur. rest Fri. 12 med long....12.25 done Sat. 8.5 easy...... 10.5 done Total 54 +/-...... 55.75
