Julius Rotich 1st and set a course record. (low 15's)

Rob Kipkoech 2nd also broke the old course record.

Marty Dalton 3rd tied his own course record.

Evan Selsor 4th

Joe Aulwes 5th I wish they would have posted official results with times of all the runners.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Last year I won my age group in 19 minutes. It was nice to get a gold medal, but I felt like I underperformed. This year was a memorable race.

As I pulled into a parking spot downtown Earlham I saw Rob Kipkoech coming out of the Legion hall. I thought there goes 2nd place because I knew Marty would be there as well. I picked up my t-shirt and number and went for a warm-up run. On my way back from the warm up run I thought I saw another fast guy. I turned the corner and ran towards the COOP to see who was doing a stealth warm-up. Julius and Rob were running strides behind a large steel build; it was as if they were trying to hiding back there. (Maybe they didn’t want Marty to know they were there).

Anyways the race started off pretty fast. At the quarter mile I was in 12th place. I wanted to keep even 5:34 splits, but I picked off 6 guys in that first mile in 5:28. I knew I could only catch one more guy; Julius, Rob, Marty, followed by Evan Selsor went through their first mile in 4:43. At about the mile and a half I had moved into 5th; the second mile was a real gut check, I knew if I could get through it the last mile would be all adrenaline. 2nd -5:41, 3rd -5:31, .1 -0:29.

17:10, I wasn’t expecting to run this fast with all of the miles I put in last week.
