Easy Run
Lifted, fast walked & did drills prior. Dull deep ache in right hamstring. Felt tired fr yesterday's long run. Started out fr Harris Y and ran loops around parking lot for mi 1 (after the first 200m I felt a lot of fatigue - this felt like 8:30 pace), veered onto dirt trail for mi 2 (I could really feel myself slowing down & this felt like 8:45 pace -- I did slow down but not that bad, felt easier than prior runs but this may have been the flatter shoes), ran onto parking lot looping up and back for mi 3 (I purposely tried to keep this under control & not go fast - this felt like 8:25 pace), continued another loop & then ran around & then across the street to Elementary School & then to track in the back (mi 4 - this again felt like 8:25 pace, I looked at watch, saw 8:06 & then purposely tried to slow down), ran 5 laps around 220 yd track controlling the pace (focused on targeting 8:15 to 8:20 pace) & then back to Y (mi 5 - amazingly ran this at same pace as mi 4 but it felt much easier) & then concluded with final 1/4 mi. The 2 tempo runs I've done are beginning to "settle in" and improve my overall fitness as I'm beginning to feel stronger & very slowly it is beginning to become easier to maintain pace.
