Waited until rain passed, cooler but horrific dew pt (69 deg). Lifted, fast walked 1/2 mi & did drills prior. Ran fr Harris Y to parking lot at South Pk mall and then up to The Residences and turned around to go back. Started out & did not feel any pain in either feet, legs felt "tired" & felt almost mechanical/forced almost as if I had rope attached to me and someone was pulling back on it (pace felt the same or slower than prior run ~9:20 pace). Tried to maintain the same rhythm through mile 2 and 3 & this is where I could feel the overwhelming humidity. As I was returning to the Y on Sharon at abt 3.82 mi I started to feel myself going into "slow motion" (legs moving slower, body feeling worse, time moving slower). At this point tried to focus on keeping a quick cadence despite how I felt and simply trying to hand on. Mile 4 felt like 10 min pace fr Thur's run. Mile 5 felt the same (running in quicksand). Throughout these final 1.2 miles I kept thinking "I have not had an "easy run" so far as anything is an "effort"! Completely sweated thru shorts. Very surprised by the splits since this is the first time I have actually run even splits (maybe fitness is improving) and first time I've run under 9 min (which is sad to even write about).
