ARC Pool

Notes

Swimming is hard. My form is pretty bad and it only gets worse as I get tired. I guess it gives me something to work at though. Gradually increased the length of my reps by an extra pool length each 2 reps to get more of a strain on my system. In between took 45"-1' rest. Hopefully will be able to cut this down and increase the length of reps. Achilles was completely unnoticed during this, so I think swimming will be a good way to try an maintain fitness while this continues to be an issue. Saw Richard also going for a swim. He made fun of my form.

Things to work on: Keep head down in the water. Make sure to kick. Overall form.

Any advice on swimming form, tricks, workouts or general info would be greatly appreciated :)

Rolled out afterwards. Came home and did a set of heel drops.

Most important thing is to be able to keep your head in the water. Take a breath every 3 strokes to keep stress on shoulders even. Kicking comes from the hips, and you don't want to let your toes to come out of the water too much. Your hand underwater should only come as far back as your hip. Keep your elbow high underwater using both your hand and your fore arm to push. If you want to watch someone look up videos of Ian Thorpe, I believe he's regarded as having the best front crawl form.

As for workouts, I believe most swimmers do short-ish intervals with short rests. I rarely do that, but it's mostly out of laziness.

I agree. Swimming is hard! Also hope the Achilles is feeling better.
