Did some exploring, wild stuff! For a little while anyway. I've been passively trying to find one of the blue trails on the map since last year since it seems like you'd be able to skip the portion that runs on the sidewalk by the waste water plant. Well, finally found it... not marked, pretty overgrown, and I'd have a hard time retracing my steps, but it was still satisfying! It was pretty stop-and-go for 15min or so because I kept taking what seemed to be a trail and having it vanish, and then trying a new direction. Knew I was roughly following it as I found a couple of bridges and a watchtower-like thing. Eventually found my way back to a place I knew and continued from there. Kind of a shame, it's like that section has just been forgotten. Cool experience, though.
After a little exploring decided to turn GPS on so I could check where I was later on the map, then just kept it on for the rest of the run. Expectedly bogus pace except for the last two miles when I was out of the trail. Using the same pace because the effort was good today, felt solid enough in not the absolute worst weather ever I suppose!
