Notes

Last long run before half. Today, have been noticing mini-cramps in foot and lower hamstrings. Don't know what that's about. Too many bananas this week? Not hydrated enough? After work, drank 2 16-oz. glasses of water and ate a yogurt. Stretched, walked dog. Drove to MoPac trailhead.

Mile 1: seemed like it took the whole mile to get into a comfortable anaerobic mode. Still feeling the mini-cramps, which is a bit worrisome.

Mile 2: since the trailhead restroom was closed, I had to veer off onto the horse trail and take a leak. I felt pretty exposed, but bladder sure felt better afterward. Still running through mild cramping feeling. It's very minor. Pleasant temperature, hearing birds and frogs.

Mile 3: It would have been nice if the drinking fountain at Walton had been working. Not so much dehydrated, but dry mouth. Into the rhythm of things, but pace is slow. The limestone seems to be making me work hard.

Mile 4: Feels pretty good, but it seems to be taking forever to hit the 5 mile marker. The longest mile.

Mile 6: Comfortable enough. Not being bothered by dry mouth any more.

Miles 7-8: Starting to feel side stitch (front stitch, really). I think my lunch digestion is just at a bad stage. Trying to run through it.

Mile 9: Side stitch getting stronger. It's slowing me down. By end of Mile 9, I have to walk for a fair distance.

Mile 10: Eventually, after a couple of false starts, can resume running. Goes pretty well after a couple hundred yards, and get to the trailhead sooner than expected.

After run, feel depleted, but legs feel pretty good. Drank a lot of water. By the time I stopped by ProActive for my logs, and grocery store, it was almost 10:00 when I got home. Was hungry, ate Stokes & tortillas & Cheetos.
