Semi-quick start as one guy took off but soon settled into a group of 6. Not much wind but I drafted the whole time. 1mile ~ 5:02. Some maneuvering after the mile and an annoying 180 turn, but then just another mile of the same 6. 2mile ~ 10:10. Soon after 2mile, another 180 turn and the guy in front of me started to fall off the pace, I passed him but that effort didn't last long as he passed me back soon with both of us steadily falling off the lead pack. I didn't fall too hard though and finished about 14sec off the lead.

Physically I felt pretty good, particularly since I hadn't felt that great the past few weeks. The pace still felt fast which was annoying but I could at least hold it. The other annoying part is I still am not breathing very well/deeply. I was basically breathing heavily the whole time which is the opposite of my MO. But the worst part was mentally I think, I was prepared to hang on but not ready to go for it. Overall it was a decent start to the season (and quite similar to last year's track 5k), but the goal of all my workouts was to start the season in racing shape, that didn't seem to happen.
