Notes
I tried a different trail this morning, north of the cabin. It's a part of the North Country Trail which apparently crosses several states. It started off well other than a good amount of bugs. The trail was obviously a hiking trail, not a mtb trail. It was less curvy and while it wasn't rocky-technical, there were occasional logs to jump over. It was also not well maintained as I found out after about 1.5miles. Lots of growth over the trail that was annoying. Also a pretty sketchy land crossing over a pond that was sloppy and hard to see with tall grass/ferns.
At 3miles I had a scary occurrence, I reached down to check my shorts and found no car key in the pocket. I turned around and started a slow run while staring at the trail intently. After a minute or so I did remember to check the rest of my shorts and thankfully found my key (odd that I couldn't feel it). That saved this from becoming another long run as it would have been 6miles from the trailhead to the cabin. The losing-your-keys-run will have to wait for another day.
The rest of the run was spend in relief and joy as I knew the trail now. Even twisting an ankle wasn't bad.
