Notes

Well that was pretty crappy for my return to the 1500. I'll describe the race but probably spend most of this entry complaining why it was slower than my mile race on Tuesday.

It clearly seemed no one wanted to race, but right from the gun it seemed like guys were sprinting off the line. I still probably should have kept up as they slowed down after 200. I was in the 2nd group and crossed 400 in 68. Then I basically stuck with my pack and didn't think about racing/running fast, which lead to 2 very slow laps. I kicked it in the last 300 to leave my pack (and by kick I mean I returned to the pace I probably should have been running).

Obviously my warm up was messed up, and I highly doubt I had recovered from Tuesday's race as I barely felt like running the past 2 days. Still, it felt like ideal conditions for racing: overcast, some rain, and hardly any wind. Yet oddly, if you look at results, hardly anyone beat their seed time.

***I ended up taking the rest of the weekend off. I was planning a few days off soon and maybe should have ran with our Drake visitors while they were in town, but this works. Now I've got a 5 week training plan for Dam to Dam. It's not as mileage-intensive as last years 40-80-100-100 weeks - though that did get me in good marathon shape. Instead I'll try to hit 70+ and do a few more workouts. The focus is on the half, with no plans of doing Grandma's this year.
