Notes
The goal here was to try some tempo, feel strong, and ease into my race-filled autumn. Started out simply in 5:38 then settled into a slower pace with some hills. 3 mile was ~17:00 and many of the guys ahead of me turned home for the 5k. At this point, I could see 2 guys ahead of me and my competitiveness told me they were catchable. So on a long downhill after 4 miles I picked up the pace and got behind the leader at 5 miles. Unfortunately then, I realized it wasn't the leader and there was someone further ahead. So I was content to be in 3rd and get a bobblehead award and I tried to maintain form and pick up the pace to the finish.
I'm glad I popped on my running flats and did this race, though as always I would have preferred to feel easier at 5:40 pace. Hopefully, I shed some rust. I should be ready for a 5k next weekend.
