CBEGM Road Trip and Retro-Run. Meet up in SC with kehamm and head southwest to re-live our youth. Sure enough, just like old times...one, two.
Plan was to run first mile or two together, then he drops it down and does his thing for last mile or so. I've not ran a 5K since November 2018. Both solo efforts running in front. Will be good to get out fast with someone, then settle in and post a respectable time.
Dude jumped between us at start, made the first turn about 40 meters into race, looked at his watch, then hit the brakes. Good plan, he ran a 23:XX.
I went through mile one few steps behind at 6:27. See kehamm start taking the pace down, so settle in and try to drop back slow and steady over next couple of mile. Had to navigate a few tight turns and road camber over mile two and fell off to 6:34. Got back on the flat, straight stuff most of the rest of the way and got back to 6:21 for third mile.
Held together well. Clock Time = 19:22. 2nd OA. Fastest 5K time since October 2016. Helped having good company along part of the way. One of these days, the next generation will step up. Until then CBEGM rolls on.
