Let's see, 5+ hours in a car, 3+ hours cramped in a seat at the Scottrade Center, A Red Robin burger, fries, and half a pound of onion rings...nothing about that says there's going to be any "magic" today. Plan is to go out on an absolutely perfect day to run and spend about two hours on my feet moving my legs.

First 30 minutes in and around City Park to see where I'm at and access gear selection. Pace around 9:00 m/m, little uncomfortable physically, but taxing cardio just about right. Long sleeve is warm in sun, perfect in the shade. Decide to wear it instead of carry it. Out to southside industrial park and take Lee all the way out to Assoc. Sheet Metal. Have the world to myself for a few minutes. Veer off on way back and head through Indian Hills, back to downhill on Old Cape Road for an R&R mile, pick up Georgia to Greensferry, and back to City Park. Hammy starts to cramp about 9.5 miles in. Stop for a couple quick shots of water, then back for another lap around the park, head towards home, and finish with a lap around the neighborhood. Pace started to progress in mile six, and hit as low as 8:33 twice.

Pathetic performance turned in by The Note last night. Couple of veterans (Tkachuk & Kariya) should not have bothered to put on a uniform. Couple kids (Perron & EJ) playing hard, but making mistakes. Then there's Andy McDonald. Had noticed him flying around the ice with no visible sense of purpose or direction. Then this happens early in third period (replays @ 1:20-1:30 have better angles):

Not a complete shock, but still a scary moment and one of those events that causes an arena filled with over 10,000 people to go dead silent.

Props Brandon S. & his SCHS CC team...all off to state in program's 1st year!! Think I'm done for the day. Solid week, gonna take a well-earned afternoon and evening off.
