16 x 400 (0.25) @ 5K to 10K Effort w/ 100 Meter Recovery Jogs. Been looking forward to this one. Left house a little late so I'd have enough light to see lines on track. Thinking a lot about these. Workout target would call for 90 - 93. Not going to sweat first four high or low. Want to run all sixteen in control, let pace fall where it falls, if a few of these land below 90, so be it (however, 85 or 86 would probably be a little silly and have a negative effect on some later reps). Do not want to let pace slip after eight or ten reps.

Out of the gate with an 87 / 92 / 94 / 93. All over the place to start. Number four felt the most awkward, but was in target range, so guess that's where I need to be.

Settle in and go. 88 / 92 / 91 / 92 / 92 / 93 / 90 / 93. After ten, started to think about walking the interval. That's not the workout, so carry on.

Finish it out strong with 92 / 91 / 91 / 92. Started to lose it at times beginning with fourteen. Lost it on second turn on number fourteen. Once on turn and once on straight on fifteen. Both turns and once on straight on sixteen. Fifteen most difficult, could feel I was hanging on at end.

13 / 16 within target time range. Garmin Ave. Paces 5:46 - 6:10. Would have liked to have dropped maybe one or two more under 90, but that didn't happen. Pretty close to bullseye, have to be happy with it. Hard enough physically, mentally, an absolute bear. Expect soreness in index finger from hitting lap button. Wondering now what it was I was so looking forward to?
